Abstract

DotNetNuke provides a robust environment for modular web applications within an easy to use content management system.  Since DotNetNuke was added to CodePlex in December 2008 it has consistently remained in the Top 3 Most Downloaded Projects list.  Supporting Active Directory, Open ID, Live ID, and other authentication methods, it is especially useful in cases where multiple users and multiple security roles are necessary such as intra/extranets, community sites, membership sites, and SaaS appilcations, as well as instances where custom applications need to exist within a broader CMS context.  We'll take a look at what DotNetNuke provides "out of the box" then get into examples of how to develop a custom module for it -- the ease of which may surprise you!
